This beautiful commemorative decanter was created by Early Times Distillery Co. in 1976 to celebrate America’s 200th birthday. Each state had its own unique version, and the one we discovered—fittingly—was the Maryland edition.

What makes this piece even more special is where it was found: tucked away and forgotten in the basement of the Waterfowl Building in Easton. While helping to clean up the space, we stumbled upon it—dusty, intact, and waiting to be rediscovered. With Talbot County preparing to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary, the timing couldn’t feel more meaningful. It’s as if this little piece of America’s bicentennial history surfaced just in time to help us honor our own.
