Item Contributed By: Sarah Kilmon, Granddaughter

Approximate Age or Date of Origin: Various - 1950s to 2000s

About the Item

My grandfather, Louis Scott Kilmon, was the band director at St. Michaels High School for more than 30 years. He wasn't just a teacher—he was a mentor, cheerleader, and steady presence in the lives of hundreds of students. He passed along more than just a love for music; he helped young people find their voice, their rhythm, and their confidence.

This display includes his trombone, baton, and newspaper clippings from his teaching years—treasured pieces of a life devoted to shaping the heart of a community through music. He retired in 2001, but his legacy still echoes in the halls of the school and in the lives of those he inspired.
