About the Item

Mary Loockerman Goldsborough (b. January 1875) was the daughter of Matthew Tilghman Goldsborough II and Ida Barrington Loud Goldsborough, their second born of eight. Her parents chose not to settle at Otwell (a family home, just outside of Oxford), considering it to be simply too far away from bustling Easton, but decided upon another one: Idaho, on Bailey's Neck.

A multitude of aunts, uncles and cousins were right nearby; all the kids attended "school" on the Locust Grove property. From there, Mary went on to St. Hilda's in NJ and, though she had four sisters, she was the only one of the girls to graduate from college: Barnard, Class of 1900.
