Join the Mid-Shore Constitution Alliance on Wednesday, September 17, from 4:30–6:00 PM at the Academy Art Museum in Easton for a free celebration of Constitution Day and Citizenship Week.
Renowned actors Darius Wallace as Frederick Douglass and Kurt Smith as Thomas Jefferson will perform a powerful conversation between the two, while local actor Casey Rauch will portray Tench Tilghman to highlight the contributions of Talbot County’s Matthew Tilghman, known as the “father” of the revolution in Maryland.
Actors will also bring to life Eastern Shore women patriots Nannie V. Melvin and Mary Bartlett Dixon Cullen, sharing their fight for women’s suffrage. The event will feature the Colonel Tench Tilghman Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution in period costume for the color guard, along with a town crier announcing the Signing of the Constitution.
This year’s program is especially meaningful as Maryland and the nation begin commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
